As I reported yesterday, I’m currently looking forward with great anticipation to my new job next week. I’ve been doing some preparation tonight and I’m in a very good mood because of it.
Earlier today I took a look on the App Store and noticed that Virtual DJ 7 Home is free to download. This was a very nice find. A decent DJ programme for the mac (outside of Traktor) which I could play around with to do some DJing again. It was quite fun going back and beat matching again. It’s been too long. For some reason I always feel more inclined to do it in the summer. I think because the music is more commonly associated with warmer weather instead of winter chills. Even though I’m bizarre and prefer the latter. You don’t get dive bombed by flying insects in the winter for a start.
Working tonight though, I’ve had some nice background music on. It’s kinda got me in a retro mood. I’m in the mood for some 80’s today. Everytime I hear today’s song, I want to go back and watch ashes to ashes…which reminds me, I need to pick up the 3rd and final season on DVD already. I’ve got both Life on Mars and the 1st 2 series of Ashes to Ashes on DVD. I think it might just be one of the greatest TV show’s ever… certainly since the turn of the millennium for absolute sure. Gene Hunt is a legend. Now that I think of it, Hustle which is made by the same people is absolute top TV also.
Anyway, enough waffiling, it’s time to present to you today the song choice. Vienna, by Ultravox.
We walked in the cold air.
Freezing breath on a window pane,
Lying and waiting.
The man in the dark in a picture frame,
So mystic and soulful.
A voice reaching out in a piercing cry,
It stays with you until
The feeling has gone only you and I.
It means nothing to me.
This means nothing to me.
Oh Vienna,.
The music is weaving
Haunting notes, pizzicato strings,
The rhythm is calling.
Alone in the night as the daylight brings,
A cool empty silence.
The warmth of your hand and a cold grey sky,
It fades to the distance.
The image has gone only you and I.
It means nothing to me.
This means nothing to me.
Oh, Vienna.
This means nothing to me.
This means nothing to me.
Oh, Vienna.
